If you read our last post then you already know we do the decorating; when you choose our “Signature Package” all your decorating needs are taken care of for you. Rehearsal dinner, ceremony site, and the barn for the reception will all be decorated with whatever your vision may be. During your consultations, all we ask from you is that you express that vision to us so we can make it come to life. However, if you’re not sure what your vision is or what kind of style you are looking for we will help make sure we find something that fits you! Whether you select the “Signature Package” or not, we always decorate for the rehearsal dinner on the bridge. Typically we strive for a simple, yet elegant theme. Candles illuminate romance, while aspen cuts and vases filled with river water highlight the natural scenery and foliage you will be surrounded by. With the lights strung across the beams and dusk just about to hit, the mood will be set to kick off an unforgettable weekend. Are you going for rustic? Simple? Shabby chic? Vintage? From old oil lanterns, to hundreds of votive holders, mason jars, and aspen cuts, we have a large inventory of decorations that you can choose to use. This can help you cut down on costs for your wedding budget because we won’t charge you to use our decor! Here’s a small example of some of the items we have. One of our 2018 Brides gave us her vision: “Shabby Chic”. Now what exactly is shabby chic? Well, in my mind I picture vintage/ antiques mixed with elegance. So candles, floral, pearls, sparkly things, golds and silvers. Andrea knew what she wanted and with communication her and Judi gathered decorations that fit the theme. Andrea was what we call a “Destination” bride, traveling by plane to come to Montana for her wedding, so of course, all coordination was done via phone calls, emails and online shopping, which was not an issue at all. On the day of the wedding it was up to me to bring her vision to life by deciding where the decor would go and how the cake table and centerpieces would be arranged all with the vision of “Shabby Chic” in mind. My favorite part about decorating is playing around with the arrangements of all the decor until I find one I think is perfect. This allows me to think creative and work with my hands creating something not only aesthetic to the eye but heightens emotions of happiness, pleasure and of course, love. This wedding was particularly fun because wooden tables and chairs were rented and used instead of our normal tables, creating a much different look than usual. With the lace tablecloths and the real vintage china the tables looked as though the guests would be attending afternoon tea but under the Montana sky and candle-lit chandeliers. Now of course I also had some help, it really was a team effort. Lincoln and Kym hung the chandeliers, Steph helped spray paint every single wine bottle for the centerpieces and Lindsay framed all the pictures and hung them to the barn walls. Without everyone’s help Andrea’s vision and my decisions on how it would all look in the end would not have been achieved. The floral and cake in these images were done by our preferred vendors: Rock Creek Floral and Ruth at Dancing Ovens. Their creations really helped bring Andrea’s vision together! The roses and wildflowers tied Montana and romance together, and Ruth’s cake showcased the importance of travel, adventure, and exploring to this couple. Which really fit, since this was their DESTINATION wedding! The best part is, now that you've browsed all these images of our 2018 "Shabby Chic" wedding, most of the decor pictured is available for your wedding! Decorating is my favorite part about being involved at the Ranch for your big day, so if you have any questions for me about our decor or want to run ideas about your vision you can email me at kendall@quakingaspenranch.com or leave a comment below!

AuthorHey readers! Kendall here, I am a close friend of Judi, Lincoln and the family. I've worked weddings at the ranch the past 3 summers and my favorite part is seeing the day come to life and meeting so many people from all over the world. Most of the time I am the bartender for the weekend (some call me a mixologist haha) but I also do the decorating for the rehearsal dinner and reception. Archives |
